TRADITIONS
We’re headed out on a last minute ski weekend! Or I guess I should say snowboard weekend. Nick and I haven’t been in a couple years, between moving and wedding planning the season flew by before we could get away.
We had a family tradition growing up where we rented a house in the Poconos for the weekend every year. It was my favorite time of year, getting together will all of my aunts, uncles and cousins – I would look forward to it all year long. As everyone got older and started families of their own the tradition slowly started to end. As sad as that was for me at the time, now I’m looking forward to continuing the tradition with my husband and “our” generation. It’s always interesting seeing how traditions can evolve and change – change can be sad and scary, but it opens up a new door of opportunities as well. Those weekends provided me and my family with endless memories that will resurface during every new ‘ski’ weekend I go on.
We’re headed out to Wisconsin tonight with a few friends. I’ve been snowboarding up and down the east coast, but the mid west is a new territory for us! I’m excited to test out the slopes, hang out in sweatpants by the fire and enjoy some good company.
Do you have any family traditions you do every year, or any that may have evolved or changed over the years?
Picture taken while I was in Whistler for work, one day I would love to have a ski weekend there!

This sounds so fun! I live in Maine, yet have never learned to ski or snowboard. I’ve always wanted to learn. Now I have two little ones, so it makes it a bit harder, but in a few years, when they’re old enough to learn we will learn together. We don’t have any family traditions, but I think we will make some as the kids get older!
Have fun!
